Delhi Daredevils batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan scored an unbeaten half-century to hand the Deccan Chargers their first loss of the 2009 Indian Premier League as they went down by six wickets at Centurion.
Dilshan, who won the match by hitting Fidel Edwards for a six over midwicket, was unbeaten on 52 as the Daredevils reached 150 for four in with eight balls to spare after the Chargers had posted 148 for nine.
The Sri Lankan hit two other maximums as well as four fours, sharing a vital 79-run partnership with Dinesh Karthik (41) for the third wicket.
Dwayne Smith top scored with 48 for the Chargers, left-arm pacers Dirk Nannes and Ashish Nehra sharing four wickets.
Nannes was later named as the man of the match after he had Adam Gilchrist (8) caught attempting to pull and Herschelle Gibbs (0) caught at mid-off by AB de Villiers.
Smith hit five fours and two sixes as he tried to give his bowlers something to work with but even his efforts were in vain.
Virender Sehwag (20) and Gautam Gambhir (17) failed to fire once again and when the in form de Villiers fell for five, the match was in the balance but Dilshan and Karthik took the Daredevils to the brink, Karthik falling in the over before Dilshan smashed the winning runs.
